In a new interview featured in Net-a-Porter’s Porter magazine, Bella Hadid opens up about her upbringing with a refugee father. The supermodel discusses her pride in the religious beliefs her real estate mogul father, Mohamed Hadid, instilled in her from a young age.
“My dad was a refugee when he first came to America, so [President Donald Trump’s travel ban] is actually very close to home for my sister and brother and me,” Hadid, 20, reveals. “He was always religious, and he always prayed with us. I am proud to be a Muslim.”
Hadid’s parents divorced in 2000, but she remains close to both her father and her mother, Yolanda.
